The Dailard School Foundation is seeking a part-time consultant Garden Educator for the 2024-2025 school year at Dailard Elementary. The Garden Educator (GE) will be tasked with preparing for and teaching garden/ag/nutrition lessons for all classes grades TK to 5, once per season (3 lessons per year to each class). The GE will also receive additional hours for material preparation, schedule management, volunteer management, and maintenance of the school garden. GE will work closely with the volunteer School Garden Coordinator on this pilot-level program. GE will consult at a rate of $25 per hour for up to 200 hours between Oct. 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025. GE will likely work two days per week.

Ideal candidate will have K-5 teaching experience, knowledge of nutrition and gardening, and experience teaching in kitchen/garden settings. Must be flexible and able to maintain positive attitude in new and changing situations. Other helpful qualities – familiarity with volunteer management, program evaluation.

About Dailard Elementary
Dailard is located in the San Carlos neighborhood of San Diego, near Mission Trails Regional Park (6425 Cibola Rd. San Diego CA 92120). The school has approximately 550 students in 22 classes. Dailard received a grant to pilot a garden education program with its students during the school day for the 2024-25 school year.
